Wanting to own a Half’n’Half heifer, cow, or bull? Learn how!

Our calves are dam raised and family handled. This means that we let momma do the job she does best – feeding, loving, and teaching a calf how to be a cow – for 3-5months, and while our wonderful cows are raising their babies we are right there with them handling, haltering, and loving those calves so that they have the best foundation before arriving to your farm. We do not offer bottle calves as we feel that this is a disservice to both our buyers and our animals. This allows us to offer bull calves that have been socialized but are not overly social, which aids in mellow well tempered bulls who do their job in harmony with you instead of against you. Our calves leave here familiar with LGD dogs, barn cats, horses, children of varying ages, and a wide variety of guests. Heifer calves have foundational halter and desensitization training that will help them adjust into their roles as family milk cows. We make sure all of our calves are registered with MJHB and tested through UC Davis for their milk protein, sire verification, and polled status. Prices for calves vary based on genetics, predicted mature height, and their testing – however you an expect a heifer calf to be $7-$10k and bull calves to be $3-$6k. Occasionally we do offer mature cows in milk and/or pregnant. These cows are always offered to our paid waitlist members first and range $10-$15k.

We have changed things! We are no longer accepting names and adding you to a list that is hundreds long with no known timeline on when you could ever get a calf. Instead, we have moved to a very limited deposit-based waitlist for each upcoming year. This will allow us to know the families we are working with, provide better care and training to our buyers, and give people actual timelines that they can plan their farms and budgets around. Our waitlist will open every fall – with announcements on our social media pages a week or so before we open them. Deposits are $1,000 and can be rolled to the following calving year if what you’re looking for isn’t born or available that year. Your position on the waitlist is determined by the order your deposit is received. We recommend that you give one of our platforms a follow so that you can stay up to date as waitlist open up.
